Honigman Miller Schwartz & Cohn LLP, based in Detroit, will be moving its office in Chicago to a bigger location. Honigman announced their move to a North Wacker Drive office tower, which will allow them to double their number of lawyers eventually.

The firm leased the entire 31st floor at 155 N. Wacker Drive and will move to the location by the end of the year from their office at 1 S. Wacker. The new office space is 28,077 square feet, only slightly larger than their current space of 27,378 feet. However, the layout of the new space will allow for more efficient workspaces.

Honigman’s Chicago office managing partner Jason M. Rosenthal said the space “will accommodate our ongoing and future growth.” Honigman has only been in the Chicago market since 2015. The firm acquired Chicago litigation firm Schopf & Weiss, which has 14 lawyers working at the 1 S. Wacker location. The firm now has 26 lawyers.

While Honigman says they have no plans to hire additional lawyers at this time, they expect to keep growing. Just in the few years since entering the Chicago market, they have expanded their tax, life sciences, litigation, and private-equity practices.

Another tenant in the building is law firm Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom. Honigman is subleasing the space from them.
