Hunton & Williams Welcomes Partner in P3 Practice
Summary: A long time attorney at Dentons left to join the P3 practice at Hunton & Williams in Atlanta.
Hunton & Williams added a partner to their public-private partnership (P3) practice. G. Scott Rafshoon joined the firm from Dentons, a firm he has been with his entire career.
Rafshoon started his legal career with Long Aldridge & Norman in 1986. Eventually, the firm merged with McKenna & Cuneo in 2002 to form McKenna Long & Aldridge. Two years ago, that firm was acquired by Dentons, a global megafirm. So even though Rafshoon never left his law firm, he has worked for three different firms in 21 years.
He credits his desire to change firms now to the P3 practice at Hunton. He said, “Hunton has a strong and growing practice in P3. It fits very well with what I do and want to do more of.” He is also impressed with their corporate department.
Rafshoon added, “It’s not always easy to have a hybrid practice. I saw an opportunity at Hunton to do both.” He does public-private partnership work combined with transactional practice in corporate, project finance and M&A matters. His latest work has been on deals to privatize military housing. Most of his deals have concluded, acting as prototypes for other public-private partnerships like when universities privatize student housing.
He will be working from their Atlanta office which will now have 34 attorneys working from it. They opened that office in 1988. Hunton has around 700 lawyers total.
