Foley Welcomes Herschel Vinyard from Florida DEP

Herschel Vinyard has joined Foley & Lardner LLP in their Government & Public Policy and Environmental Regulation Practices as of counsel, according to a press release from the firm.

Vinyard recently worked as the Secretary of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection under Governor Rick Scott's first term in office.

The chair of the firm's Government & Public Policy Practice, David Ralston, said, "With the addition of former Secretary Vinyard to our team, we gain one of Florida's preeminent authorities on Florida environmental law and regulation. Herschel's service as Florida's highest environmental officer and his earlier private sector experience will equip him to provide Foley clients with unique insights into the Florida environmental and regulatory approval process for development projects. He also will deepen the firm's considerable environmental law and public policy capabilities across the country."

Vinyard brings more than 25 years of experience in government, business and environmental law. He will counsel clients from the real estate, manufacturing, construction, land use, economic development and regulatory industries.

Vinyard will work in the Jacksonville, Florida office of the firm. The managing partner of the office, Kevin Hyde, said the following in the release:

"Our clients will greatly benefit from Herschel's experience with Florida's complex environmental regulations, as well as his relationships within government offices in Florida as well as in Washington, D.C. Vinyard has also worked as the director of business operations with Southeast Shipyards at BAE Systems.
