The Sacramento legal market has gained another law firm as LeClairRyan enters the fray with the hiring of two former partners from Nossaman LLP
LeClairRyan will operate a temporary office on Ninth St. in Sacramento. It will be led by Robert McWhorter. Kevin Collins also joins from Nossaman LLP. The plan is to grow the presence of the firm and then find a permanent location.
LeClairRyan was founded in 1998 in Richmond, Virginia, but does not have a designated headquarters. There are 377 lawyers across 24 offices in the United States.
The firm advises clients on issues involving corporate law, business counsel, and litigation, according to CEO David Freinberg.
In a press release from the firm, Freinberg said the following:
"Investing in client relationships is the foundation on which LeClairRyan was built. Our focus on adding exceptional talent to enhance our firm's growing capabilities is driven by a single goal, to meet the ever evolving needs of our clients. By opening an office in Sacramento, we are able to provide our clients with a greater depth, breadth and reach of representation in matters of business counsel, corporate law and litigation. We are committed to our client-driven strategy and plan to expand our presence throughout California."
McWhorter's clients include national banks and federal lending institutions. He handles commercial and residential lender liability issues.
In the release, McWhorter said, "It is not often that a growth opportunity arises in one's career as significant as that provided by LeClairRyan. We are excited to take part in LeClairRyan's aggressive growth strategy and to develop and lead the new Sacramento office."
Collins is a trial lawyer who focuses his practice on commercial litigation. His clients include counties, cities, public agencies and special districts.
"LeClair's focused on representing financial institutions, franchisors and businesses," McWhorter said. "They have a national platform. My client base focuses on financial institutions, franchisors and business. It's a good fit for me and my clients."
