Robert Mendes has left Frost Brown Todd which merged with MGLAW two years ago to form his own firm.

In an interview with The Nashville Post, Mendes said, "Managing change is imbedded in some of the insolvency work I do. The best success stories require changing the way businesses are run while also fixing the balance sheet. I think there is a place in the market for being able to blend traditional legal services with helping companies evolve for the better."

The new firm will take on cases involving transactions, management consulting, insolvency cases and litigation.

Mark Donnell joins Mendes at the new firm from Frost Brown Todd.

Mekesha Montgomery, the member-in-charge of Frost Brown Todd's local office, said, "We are sad to see Bob and Mark leave. They are great colleagues, and we very much appreciate the contributions they made to the growth we've experienced in the last few years. We are happy for them as they begin their next chapter."

Another lawyer to make a lateral move at the end of 2014 is Leonard Baxt. Baxt is the former chair and head of the corporate practice at Dow Lohnes .

Just one year ago, a large chunk of its lawyers left the firm to join Cooley. He left the firm to join Cooley in Washington, D.C. as senior counsel, but has since left Cooley.

Baxt's phone number with the District of Columbia Bar is now disconnected. Baxt is reportedly joining an unidentified company.

Over at Barnes & Thornburg, Bradley Olson has been brought in from Haynes and Boone to work in the litigation department. The firm also lost Hamish Cohen in Indianapolis so he could start Mattingly Burke Cohen Biederman in the same town.

Moris Marshali has joined Brown Rudnick in London after leaving Edwards Wildman Palmer. Mashali founded Rima Consulting Limited back in 2011.

Edwards Wildman lost another IP litigation partner when Steven Jensen left the firm to join Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo.

Attilio Pavone has joined Norton Rose Fulbright in Milan from local firm Toffoletto e Soci. The firm lost Lukasz Granosik on December 15 when he became a Quebec Superior Court Judge.

Sidley Austin said goodbye to Robert Holland, a former appellate and complex commercial litigation partner at the firm when he resigned to form Praetium Law in Los Angeles. The firm also lost Jennifer Landau when she joined Landau Gottfried & Berger. She is a partner at her new firm, where her husband is a namesake.

Summary: There have been a host of lateral moves at the end of 2014 involving many attorneys from top law firms.
