BuckleySandler Goes International with London Office

Summary: BuckleySandler LLP
opens its first international office in London. Jamie Parkinson has relocated from Washington DC to be the Partner-in-residence at the firm's new office. The law firm says the move was made in response to client needs and for strategic positioning of the firm.

BuckleySandler LLP announced the launch of its first international office in London on Monday. The financial services and criminal & civil enforcement boutique says it has decided on expanding its base to further assist its clients with global litigation financial crimes compliance, privacy/data protection and FCPA issues.

The law firm will be operating in London as BuckleySandler International LLP, a limited liability partnership incorporated in England and Wales, for practicing US law. Currently, the firm has more than 150 attorneys across its offices in Washington, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and London.

BuckleySandler is following a strategy of organic growth responding to client requirements and resource optimization rather than going for aggressive acquisition of territory through mergers.

The office would be managed by James T. Parkinson who has relocated from the firm's Washington DC office to be the firm's London partner-in-residence. Parkinson will be building strategic partnerships in the region focusing on the law firm's core practice areas including financial crimes, FCPA, anti-money laundering, enforcement, digital commerce, litigation and data security and privacy issues.

Commenting on the expansion, BuckleySandler Chairman and Executive Partner Andrew L. Sandler said, "As the enforcement, regulatory and litigation challenges facing our clients globalize, it has become apparent that we need to be in London to enable us to meet our clients' global needs." He further added, "Jamie's move to London and our evolving strategic partnerships with global law firms with complementary practices are important steps in enabling the firm to assist clients in their global challenges and expand our global financial crimes practice."

Parkinson, the new Partner-in-Residence in London, said, "Our new London presence is a significant part of BuckleySandler's overall development of a strong capability to advise clients on comprehensive solutions to regulatory and enforcement problems on a global basis."

Speaking on his relocation, Parkinson said, "This is an important initiative for the firm and a welcome professional opportunity for me."
