Beatles’ Lawyer LiCalsi Joins Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi in New York


Leading entertainment lawyer Paul V. LiCalsi has joined Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi LLP in New York as a partner. LiCalsi, who is often referred to as the Beatles' lawyer has been representing the world-famous and historical music group for long in the US. He was formerly a partner with Mitchell Silderberg & Knupp LLP.

The law firm has more than 230 lawyers across offices in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Boston, Naples, and New York.

Speaking on LiCalsi's arrival, Ronald J. Schutz, Regional Managing Partner, New York and Chair of the firm's National IP Litigation Group said, "Paul has an extraordinary history in the entertainment industry and his addition is a part of our strategic focus on growing the national entertainment and media litigation practice on both coasts." His focus and primary areas of practice include entertainment and media industry related commercial litigation stemming from issues like intellectual property, unfair competition, contract, Internet rights and publicity rights.

As expected, LiCalsi would be joining the Business Litigation, Entertainment and Media Litigation practices in the law firm's New York office. LiCalsi is currently the co-chairman of the Litigation Committee of New York State Bar Association Entertainment and Sports Law Section. He has received many awards and recognitions across the length of his star-studded career. The Hollywood Reporter, Esq. has recognized him as one of the "100 Top Outside Counsel in the Entertainment Industry," and New York Super Lawyers recognized him as one of the "Top 5% of lawyers in New York."Schutz admitted, "His reputation, experience and knowledge are a terrific complement, and he provides significant depth of service in New York."

For LiCalsi, this was a strategic move to boost his practice, and he said, "This opportunity opens many doors that I was previously conflicted from, and I look forward to helping expand the firm's entertainment practice with many interesting matters."

LiCalsi also represented Apple Corps Limited in many matters involving policing and licensing, litigation, intellectual property, trademark and copyright. His client list reads like a Who's Who of the entertainment industry and includes high-profile clients like Elton John, Dominick Dunne, Taylor Swift, Billy Joel, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), Scholastic Inc and American Society of Composers. LiCalsi received his J.D. from the Duke University School of Law, and his B.A., cum laude, from Yale University.
