Foley & Lardner Partner Steps Over to QuisLex

Now, here's a significant breakthrough that is making news all over in the legal processing companies' fraternity. Recently, QuisLex, a legal process outsourcing company serving law firms announced that a leading IP lawyer and partner of Foley & Lardner LLP has joined the LPO as its Vice President of Legal Services. This move by a law firm partner once again underscores the rapidly changing dynamics of the law firms/legal industry scenario where legal process outsourcing companies and virtual law firms keep growing and traditional law firms are in a change or perish situation.

David M. Klein, the law firm partner stepping over to the LPO is widely recognized as a leading expert on the structuring and negotiation of complex intellectual property and technology transactions. He is also recognized as an industry leader in the field of technology and IT outsourcing by Chambers USA and the Legal 500.

Before starting his career in law, Klein was an avionic systems engineer and was involved in the B-2 bomber program for which he developed automatic target recognition systems.

Klein has also been recognized previously as a New York Super Lawyer and Human Resource Outsourcing Today had named him as one of the "120 Superstars of HR Outsourcing."

Klein is known for his expertise in technology development and licensing agreements, strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions, and all facets of intellectual property law including patents, trademarks, copyrights, internet and e-commerce and in advising startup companies.

Last year, when Klein had joined Foley & Lardner, the chair of Foley's IT & Outsourcing Practice, James R. Kalyvas had commented, "David is nationally recognized for the depth of his experience in information technology and outsourcing transactions … His well-rounded background, having worked as both an attorney and an engineer, is a tremendous asset and fits in nicely with our comprehensive approach to addressing our clients' needs."

QuisLex informed in its press release that before being a partner at Foley & Lardner, Klein was a partner with Shearman & Sterling LLP, and Paul Hastings LLP .

QuisLex CEO Ram Vasudevan said, "David brings a unique level of expertise and sophistication to the QuisLex management team and will be able to draw on his wealth of experience to advise corporate legal departments and law firms on how to maximize the benefits of working with an LPO."

On his part, Klein said on the occasion that he was thrilled with the opportunity and observed, "QuisLex is at the forefront of delivery of high-quality service with unprecedented efficiency, which is what clients today are demanding."
