Bingham McCutchen Downsizing On the Sly
Legal industry gossip site Above The Law says that at least one law firm is making cuts to its staff on the sly. Bingham McCutchen is going about announcing a few layoffs in its internal company emails. Bingham McCutchen announced around 42 job cuts across its U.S. offices, with most of the cuts being in Boston. But most of the cuts will be among the support staff which includes secretarial and administrative positions and also accounting positions.
The firm did not have a good year in 2011. Its gross revenue fell for the first time after 15 years of growth. But in spite of the slight dip in its revenues, the firm's revenue per lawyer , as well as its profits per partner reached record numbers.
