Simpson Thacher Will Be Advising On Two International Bank Deals Totaling $2 Billion
Simpson Thacher & Bartlett will be advising Colombia's Banco Colpatria in one of the two $1 billion bank-related deals announced on consecutive days at the end of the week. It also plans to advise a group of private equity investors in the other deal. Scotiabank has agreed to buy a 51 percent share of Colombia's Banco Colpatria for about $1 billion. This is Scotiabank's largest acquisition till date. Scotiabank has plans to combine its wholesale business in Colombia and Banco Colpatria's existing operations after the closure of the acquisition. Cravath, Swaine & Moore is representing Banco Santander and its subsidiaries in the matter.
