An Incredible Gift for University of Maryland's School of Law

The W.P. Carey Foundation announced it was donating $30 million to the University of Maryland School of Law in an effort to help it ''bolster its programs''. It's the largest gift in the history of Maryland's university system as well as one of the top ten largest gifts given to any law school in the United States. William Polk Carey, the foundation's founder, said, ''This gift represents the Carey family's educational and philanthropic legacy in the great state of Maryland''. The presser also said that the foundation hopes it will honor family members who sacrifice so much to educate and give to the legal profession as a whole. The university said the gift will allow it to continue the tradition of ''graduating students who make a special contribution to the world''.
