Bonelli Partners Leave for Paul Hastings
Alberto Del din, leading structured finance partner of Bonelli Erede Pappalardo (Slaughter and May
's 'best friend' firm in Italy) has walked out in order to join Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker in Milan. Seth Zachary, a chairman of Paul Hastings, stated: ''Alberto is one of the leading finance lawyers in Europe and is an excellent addition to Paul Hastings.'' Bonelli also lost five partners to Latham & Watkins at the end of last year.

Weil, Dewey Source of Bankruptcy Advice for GM
For advice on potentially filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, General Motors has consulted Weil Gotshal & Manges and Dewey & LeBoeuf. Leading the Weil Gotshal team are veteran restructuring star Harvey Miller and partner Stephen Karotkin, while former Weil restructuring co-head Martin Bienenstock is leading the Dewey team advising on the deal. The move comes after a $14B government rescue package for GM and Chysler broke down last night leaving both companies in dire financial difficulties.

Cleary Gottlieb Grab Top Spot on $6 Billion French Bank Bailout
Two leading French banks have taken up about $6 billion worth of state aid To help them through the bailout, the banks have asked Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton to serve as lead advisors in a deal that closed Thursday. The Wall Street Firm acted for European banking giant BNP Paribas and Crédit Agricole as they issued a combined $7 million.
