Fort Worth Business Press Names Susan Coleman 2008 Great Woman of Texas
The global law firm of Thompson & Knight, focused on the energy industry, congratulated Susan E. Coleman on being named 2008 Great Woman of Texas. Co-workers and community leaders nominated Coleman for her professional achievements, volunteer work supporting local charities and organizations, and strong work ethic. She will be honored at an awards reception and dinner.
Ex-Bracewell attorney launches Hisel Law Firm

Attorney Mary Ann Hisel has decided to leave the San Antonio office of Bracewell & Giuliani LLP to form her own law firm. Hisel spent the last seven years as a labor and employment attorney at the law firm before going into practice for herself. The Hisel Law Firm PLLC has been formed as a boutique labor and employment litigation firm. Hisel will provide counsel to San Antonio and South Texas businesses and government entities. Specifically, Hisel says the firm will help business owners and employers maintain workplace productivity, avoid litigation and adopt employment best practices to enhance their bottom line. From 2006 to 2008, Hisel was named a Texas Rising Star in Labor and Employment by her peers.
One Fourth of Chicago Firms Met Female Partner Goal
Of the 44 law firms in Chicago, only 11 achieved the goal set in by the Chicago Bar Association in 2005 to increase the number of female partners by at least three percentage points. The Chicago Bar challenged firms to promote more women into leadership positions in attempts to guarantee no gender bias existed.
