Womble Carlyle allies with Molden Holley
Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice has formed an alliance with eight-lawyer firm Molden Holley Fergusson Thompson & Heard, an African-American firm, to increase racial diversity. The alliance is an attempt to make Womble Carlyle more attractive to major companies who look for diversity in outside counsel. Minorities constitute only 4 percent of partners and 15 percent of associates at U.S. law firms, according to the National Association for Law Placement. Fulton County Daily Report

Bradley Arant & White adds to its Washington office
Birmingham, AL-based Bradley Arant Rose & White has added nine attorneys to its Washington, DC, office, including five partners, from Spriggs & Hollingsworth. The office now has 13 attorneys and is moving to larger office space. Birmingham Business Journal

U.S. law firms increasing presence in U.K.
Several U.S. law firms are increasing their UK presence by taking on expanded office space in London. Baker Botts, Bingham McCutchen, Hunton & Williams, Kirkland & Ellis, and Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe are all in varying stages of discussions regarding new premises. The Lawyer

Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe launches practice in Russia.
Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe has launched a 19-lawyer Russia practice based in Moscow. The Moscow office is staffed by 13 lawyers. Five others are based in London and one is in Washington, DC. The practice will advise on M&A, private equity, and capital markets. Firm Press Release

Comey named General Counsel of Lockheed Martin
Lockheed Martin has named James Comey, presently the second-ranking official at the Justice Department, to the general counsel position. Comey will join Lockheed in October, replacing Frank Menaker, Jr., who served as general counsel since 1995. The Associated Press
